Shell single phase transformer

For the planning of a shell single phase transformer act as shown in the following lines, by inserting the data where asked , and by pushing the buttons "Update Calculations" after modifying the data.

It is possible to load, from the database, the data of an already dimensioned transformer:

Push   to choose the transformer from the database.

Planning parameters:
Description:
Rated power: An =

VA
Primary voltage: V1n = V
Secondary voltage: V2n = V
Frequency:  f = Hz
Cooling: Air

Calculation of the SHEET PACK

Preliminary choice of the values of induction B and of the packing factor Ks , as a function of the service type:
Service:  B [ T ]  Ks
continuous 0.8 ÷ 1 0.9
intermittent 0.9 ÷ 1.1 0.94

B = T
Ks =

Flux calculation
Calculation formula:
 = Wb   (We set c= 2.7  for An until 1000 VA for shell single phase transformers)

Calculation of the central column area:
    (Section required by the flux) Sf = mm2
   (Gross section calculated with packing factor) Sc = mm2
   (Approximate dimension of the column) f  =   mm
  Choice of the trade type lamination.
In base to the calculated value of the calculated value, we have to choose the type of lamination that is available on the market. Once it has been chosen we insert the data relative to it in the following boxes:
Total width: a = mm
Column width f = mm
Width d = mm
Column height e = mm
Side height b = mm
Lamination thickness s = mm

Push the button:

If parameters have been modified.

Calculation of the magnetic core thickness:
   In base to the calculated value of the section and to the column width we calculate the magnetic core thickness:
c = mm
Calculation of the total number of lamitations
n =

Calculation of the WINDINGS

We fix a preliminary value for the efficiency:
= Push

If the efficiency value has been modified

Calculation of the currents in the windings
I1 = A
I2 = A

We fix a value for the current density in conductors:
J = A/mm2 Push

If the current density value has been modified

Calculation of the conductor sections and of the relative diameters:
Scu1 = mm2
Scu2 = mm2
dcu1 = mm
dcu2 = mm

Choice of the commercial diameters of conductors:
Insert the values of the conductor effective values, in base to the values that are on the market.
dc1  = mm2 Push if data have been modified.
dc2  = mm2

Determination of the primary and secondary turn number:
  We previously calculate the voltage per turn: e   = V
The number of primary turns:  N1 =
The number of secondary turns (with dV%=6.5%) : N2 =

Determination of the winding dimensions:
D1 = mm
D2 = mm
D   = mm
Verify that the calculated dimensions are compatible with the dimensions of the selected laminations.
